My View on On-campus College Students’ Marriage
It is a new thing thatChinese on-campus college students are legally allowed to get married before they complete their courses. Many peopleapplaudthis new developmentwhileothers haveexpressedtheir concern about this.
Those whodisapprove ofthis new trend believe that college stundents will inevitably have less time and energy for their academic life. One common argument, however, for on-compus college students’ marriageis thata number of students do have a desire for an ideal marriage. Now that they havecome of age, theyare entitled tosuch happiness.
Of the two views discussed above,I’m in favor ofthe former. My reason is that on-campus students areladen with academic tasks. If one gets married now, he or she has to work much harder than other students because they have to solve their financial problems at the same time. As a married couple, for instance, theyare supposed torent a room in or outside the university, which will naturallyadd to their spending.
As far as I am concerned, students shouldn’t get involved in stock market unless they are fully prepared both in financial ability and in knowledge. Since there is a high degree of risk in the stock market, the money students invest are mainly from parents for their living. Without it, how can they deal with everyday life? Furthermore, with no basic knowledge about stock market, anyone is prone to failure. All in all, the principal work of college students is not getting involved in stock market.

Is Space Worth Exploring? With the development of science and technology, space exploration has greatly advanced. We could watch the exciting news from TV and read the latest achievement in this field almost every day. As human beings, we are so proud of our work.
Yet, not everyone has the same attitude towards this issue. Some people think we could use the money and resources to find out ways to relieve the suffering of the earth’s starving millions. It has also been felt that the space might lead to the development of space weapon, which may cause the destruction of earth. Despite these disadvantages and potential dangers, the advantages are far greater. Our daily life cannot be without the results of the space science. We use satellites for communication, weather forecast and oil exploration. Some problems may be solved with further exploration. For instance, with the success of space shuttles and the feasibility of living on other planets, we may solve the population problem on earth. Space projects will also enable us to find new sources of energy to solve the energy problem and discover new chemical elements to cure some incurable diseases.
So in my opinion, space exploration contributes a lot to the improvement of the quality of human life. We will have better life with the advances of the space exploration.

How to Solve the Energy Problem Energy is one of the biggest problems people are faced with today. Not a few far-sighted people point out that our natural resources are very much limited. If we keep consuming our resources at the present rate, they warn, the world will soon be running out of oil, coal and metals and this will certainly lead to a serious energy crisis threatening mankind’s survival.
The majority of the world’s people have responded with a clamor for more severe conservation of our natural resources. This is urgently necessary, indeed. It must be realized that much of our energy, in the form of oil, coal, gas, or electricity, has been wantonly consumed. If things go on like this, we will leave for our descendants a devastated world, a vast stretch of wasteland. So, from now on, we will have to make serious efforts to practise economy in using energy and cut down waste of any form so as to slow down the present drain on our limited resources.
But conservation alone is not all the answer. The best way to solve the energy problem is, I think, to develop new sources of energy. It is obvious that, even if we save much energy by using it carefully, our natural resources, however abundant, will run out ultimately. And when they are unexplored areas seems to be the only way out of our predicament.

It Pays to Be Honest Nowadays, some people hold the opinion that those honest people are fools whose ways of coping with the outside world cannot work. They believe that only those who stop at nothing to get what one wants can subsist and succeed in our society, which features severe competitions. However, in my opinion, no matter what we do, to be honest is the best policy for all of us. If we stick to the principle of honesty, we will benefit and achieve for sure a lot from it, which will promote us to succeed in the future.
Honesty can help us win trust and respect from others, which no doubt will do good to us. In university, for example, to students, honesty is of great importance and of great value to their academic research or cooperation with their supervisors. To tell the truth, it requires a good deal of time and patience to do the research honestly. Nevertheless, we will learn a lot from our hard work and will feel fulfilled as well. At the same time, our efforts will be recognized by our supervisors. In this way our honesty will not only bring us improvement in studies, but also will lead to mutual trust and respect between students and supervisors.
In conclusion, honesty is the best policy for all of us. Whatever we do we must uphold the principle of honesty, because it not only can win trust and respect from others for us, but also bring us more opportunities in the future.

At 43, Ive reached the stage where women are warned to watch out for the creeping sadness of middle age. Were served up an endless stream of advice on “how to survive your 40s”, as if were in the endurance stage of a slow shuffle to decrepitude. This is the age women start to become “invisible” our value, sexuality and power supposedly 27 by the vanishing of youth. But I dont feel like Im fading into 28 I feel more seen than I ever have. For the first time in my life, I have a clear-eyed view of myself that is 29 , compassionate and accepting. Its a grounding sense of strength that was forged in the flames of those times when life threatened to burn me to the ground but I found a way to get back up.Now, when I look in the mirror, Im proud of who I am even those “broken” parts that for so long seemed impossible to love. So when advertisers try to sell me ways to “turn back the clock”, I have to stifle a laugh.I wouldnt go back to the crippling self-consciousness of my youth if you paid me. But if I could tell that scared, bullied teenager anything, it would be that she doesnt have to apologise for taking up space in the world.Id tell her that happier times lie ahead if she could just see that she deserves more than scraps of belonging and that the only approval she needs is her own. This hard-won sense of self-acceptance is one of the joys of being an older woman. But its a narrative often 31 out by the shame marketers rely on to peddle us their diet pills, miracle face creams and breathable yoga pants as if self-love is a 32 commodity.Wouldnt it be great if the second half of our life was a cause for applause rather than trepidation? There are countless fierce and vibrant women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond, who are living their best lives and kicking societal expectations of ageing in the pants. When I asked women over 40 what they loved about getting older I was inundated, and the most common response was the sense of feeling comfortable in their own skin.Leah, 46, told me: “I am the most confident I have ever been in my life, and a lot of my angst about what other people think of me has disappeared I havent got time to care about that. Im too busy living my life.”For Karina, turning 40 was like a “switch being turned on”, allowing her to see herself for who she

Living in the College Town In recent years, college towns have been thriving across China as a result of rapid economic and cultural development. Students hold different views on living in these remote areas of their cities.
Many of them loathe the isolation from city life. They complain about the tedious experience of catching the shuttle bus to the outskirts every day. And what annoys them more is that they are detached from normal campus life and they find few teachers to interact with. However, quite a number of students argue that staying away from the bustling surroundings will eventually benefit their academic performance.
As one of the students living in a college town, I have deeply experienced the inconvenience and monotony. Therefore, some measures should be taken so that more attention can be given to the students in the college town. On the one hand, more cultural events and recreation activities can be launched. On the other hand, a closer teacher-student relationship should be established so as to strengthen their communication.

The More I Learn, the More Ignorant I Find Myself to Be As soon as I was enrolled in college, I felt a big burden off my mind. So did my classmates. We just wanted to relax. But at our first English lesson on how to improve our study the teacher told us, “There is no end of learning. The more you learn, the more ignorant you will find yourself to be. The only way you can do is to work hard to learn more.”
The teacher’s words awaken me and remind me of the ignorant few who claim to have all of the answers to man and life but know less than you or I, and who, with their hands held up high, offer everything you may have wanted to know about life itself, but when pushed and pried knowing nothing but what they are told. Now I am a postgraduate, and life has taught me too many harsh lessons. The more I learn and experience, the more I realize how little I know. Therefore, bearing in mind the motto that there is no end of learning, I keep on my studies. I do not only learn from the books, but also from experiences, as practice makes perfect.
For all of my efforts, I am fully aware how far I am away from the sea of knowledge. The more I learn, the more ignorant I find myself to be and the more I feel the need to learn. Art is long, and life is short.

My View on the Use of E-Dictionary When it comes to learning English, nobody can do it well without the assistance of a dictionary. Confronted with the difficult task of learning English at college level, many students turn to electronic dictionaries (e-dictionaries) for help.
While an ordinary, paperback English-Chinese/ Chinese-English dictionary is often big and heavy, e-dictionaries are small and light, hence quite portable and handy. They provide students with an easy access to information concerning pronunciations, spellings, meanings, translations, antonyms and synonyms whenever students come across a new word.
However, with a limited storage capacity, e-dictionaries are often subjected to a low storage of good examples illustrating the usages of a word compared with its high storage of vocabulary. Meanwhile, an ordinary, paperback dictionary will turn out popular and helpful when it offers abundant examples and illustrations for a word. And a financial problem will also arise if you intend to possess an e-dictionary. The price of an ordinary, paperback dictionary is around 100 Yuan, but the price of an average e-dictionary is often over 200 Yuan.
I would like to have both. I will carry an e-dictionary with me to all my English classes, and, keep an ordinary, paperback dictionary close at hand when I am learning alone.

Which Is More Important: Wealth or Health? In today’s society, many people think wealth is the symbol of success. So some people take the goal of becoming rich as their aim in life. They are crazy for making money. On the contrary, others think health is more important. In balancing the two, I have every reason to accept the latter.
At the first place, good health implies a long life. A man in good health could live a happy life. Next, people usually turn to healthy man for help. Finally, good health brings people great wealth. While big fortune sometimes causes trouble, a man with big fortune who fears of being robbed trusts nobody. What’s more, some evil people want to cheat rich men out of money. Furthermore, many things exist around us that can’t be bought by cash, such as, friendship, love, health and etc.
Therefore, I think good health is more important than wealth. We can do nothing without good health. If we have good health, we can do what we want.
Internet Games: Good or Evil With the rapid development of computer technology, great changes have taken place in our way of spending leisure time. We can see more and more young people spend much of their time on Internet games.
Some people think that playing Internet games is a good way for entertainment. One can play different roles in this virtual Internet community which is interesting and exciting. Besides, playing Internet games can help people cultivate some desirable qualities, such as perseverance.
However, some others believe that playing Internet games can distract people from their work and study. Too much indulgence can do harm to one’s physical health. They also hold that Internet games should take the blame of increasing teenager misbehavior.
In my view, Internet game is bad. Young people, especially students, should play less Internet games because it wastes too much of their precious time.
